José María Chillón Pérez, who has developed his career within the sector of retail franchises for the past 25 years, has been appointed Development and Expansion Manager of Lov Hostels, a millennial-targeting corporate brand created by Excem Real Estate through one of their real estate investment trusts (REIT), Sociedad de Inversión Turística – SITUR.

Chillón holds a university degree in Law and has been devoted to the franchise sector since 1993. He has served as Development Manager at Tormo & Asociados, CEO of Nuevo Grupo Concesionario, Newco, CEO of Salomon Capital and as an external consultant for Coca-Cola, among other positions.

Excem Real Estate created the corporate brand Lov Hostels through their hostel-devoted REIT, Sociedad de Inversión Turística – SITUR. The brand offers three types of hostels: premium, cozy and party. Lov Hostels seeks to develop the franchise sector in Spain and intends to make their way into other markets afterwards.

SITUR expects to invest €270 million and purchase buildings all over Europe in order to open hostels. Their expansion plans at a five-year term start in Spain and Europe but the company hopes to cross the Pond.

Having invested around €35 million, they currently have three hostels in Madrid with a total of 780 beds. The company has set eyes on more than 50 properties in cities like Seville, Malaga, Granada, Cordoba, Valencia, Barcelona, Santiago de Compostela, Porto, Lisbon, Prague, Rome, Venice and Athens and hopes to have at least 2,000 beds available by the end of the year during this growing phase.

Through their brand Cats, Lov Hostels offers remodelled and innovatively designed spaces as an alternative to economical hotels. The main characteristics of these hotels are their good value for money, their central location in large cities and their common areas which are a perfect space for young clients to mingle.
