CATS MANIFESTO
SUSTAINABLE
Our Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria is based on the following principles: Energy reduction, thanks to a smart-lighting design. Guests comfort thanks to our high-quality lighting design. Efficient flow and flush fixtures to reduce indoor water consumption. Nature integration, including (local) vegetation, water amenities, etc. Cool rooftops that promote social interaction while allowing contact with nature. Rooftop materials with high solar-reflectance values to reduce the heat island effect. Pollutant source control through automatic closing doors and floor-to-ceiling partitions in cleaning rooms and bathrooms. Entryway systems to improve indoor air quality (dust control). Promotion of environmental awareness through graphics and catch phrases.
CATS STORY
The story began in 2003, when a group of friends decided to embark upon a new adventure: to bring the “hostel culture” they experienced in other European capitals to Spain. CATS Hostels were pioneers in founding the Party Hostel concept in Madrid, serving the interests of an important travel community.
Now, 15 years later, CATS has adopted a new international view and way of traveling. That´s how the Fun Hostel concept was born. This new lodging category focuses on blending nightlife with immersive daytime activities and cultural experiences in the city.
In 2017, CATS joined Excem Group to increase the family and renovate the brand. We plan to reopen renovated hostels and new locations soon: with the same spirit plus comfortable, innovative, and sustainable design.
CATS LAVAPIÉS
Situated in the center of Lavapiés, a neighborhood that combines Spanish tradition with present multiculturalism. With steep, narrow streets and vibrant colors of artistic expression, it´s perfect for discovering international restaurants and cultural centers. Our building respects its original 18th century design with its typical ‘corrala´. The common spaces facilitate integration and create a social and cozy atmosphere.
CATS CALLAO
Located in the heart of Madrid, Cats Callao promises to be one of the most vibrant, original and attractive hostels of the city. Being the perfect location to attend any event, our 1894 building will offer our clients the perfect spaces to enjoy local food, activities and have fun in Cats mythical cave.
NEW HOSTEL IN LISBON
We’re super excited about adding to our family in Portugal! We’re setting the bar really high with this new hostel, and we can’t wait to share all the details with you!
And what can we say about the destination? Picture the terracotta rooftops baking in the sun, the beautiful tiles decorating all buildings types, and the iconic tram snaking its way up… We´ve already fallen in love with every corner of Lisbon and, soon, you will too!
CATS SOL
Located in the center of the city, we are surrounded by numerous entertainment options and all the main tourist attractions. We are also near various food markets, traditional taverns, and trendy restaurants.
Our historical building is protected by the City Council and has an impressive Arab-Andalusian patio and many common areas, including a bar and a cave.
